Strawberry Overnight

Saturday 9/8 7:00 am

Gear loaded up and cowboy coffee in tow we head out for our first over night paddle with new boards and a new destination in our crosshairs. A quick stop for breakfast and last minute provisions in Heber. Jake questions the group about going to a Heber City BBQ joint for some breakfast ribs and pulled pork and gets a “that’s DISGUSTING” from one of the billions served as we step through the door of the morning gut bomb of choice along highway 40.

Three Tahoe SUP Zephyr 14 foot touring boards cinched to the top of the Tacoma and we’re a happy
crew now that months of planning, gear requests and general shameless begging has paid off and we’re
ready for our first overnight SUP session on the un-assuming Strawberry Reservoir.

We cash in our good Karma with the station guard who only charges us for one day usage of the marina
and hop out of the truck at Strawberry Bay to glassy water and crisp autumn air at over 7600 feet.

A little tired from the early start and anxious for what lies ahead this was forgotten and that was overcompensated for but we hit the water, sans map (mental note to future selves), pointed South West, dodging barbed anglers with adventure propelling our souls.
There is so much that I would like to say about this area but I’ll let the photos speak for themselves.
Utah, even after twenty some odd years, continues to reveal her quiet beauty if you just give her the
chance.

Keep Utah beautiful! PLEASE PACK OUT WHAT YOU BRING IN!! Discarded refuse and trash not only
detracts from future users experience but also affects wildlife. Trash may be washed into the lake,
diminishing water quality and negatively impacting the aquatic ecosystem.

A friendly P.S.A from your pals at P.O.P
